Response from Canmake Japan on Animal Testing...
Having read that they were cruelty free, and contacting JAVA (Japan) for confirmation, I learned that JAVA had confirmed that Canmake & Koji did not test but were unsure if they sold in China.
I contacted both and received an immediate response form both. Koji said that they needed to ask headquarters and Kaori from Canmake answered my questions herself.
Hello. I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me.
1. Do you or any third parties test your products on animals? (NO)
2. Do you or any third parties test the ingredients in your products on animals? (We don't want, but we can't check) Because the raw materials which we use are things with the results that were already used as cosmetics, it is not necessary to test them newly. That is why we do not do the animal test to raw materials. However, we do not know that they did an animal test or not when they developed the raw materials.
3. Do you sell your products in China where animal testing in mandatory?(We do not export it to Mainland China)
Do you have plans to submit a non-testing application to China in June 2014? (We do not have the plan to export to China now.)
4. Do your products have any animal ingredients? (NO)
So they do not test their products, they do not need to test their ingredients because they were already used in cosmetics, and they do not plan to sell to China. Question #2 was a little skitchy and I asked for clarification, which she gave.
